DESCRIPTION:
Public education is the cornerstone of American democracy. Each and every child is entitled to a thriving public school. Diverting public money to private education starves public schools of vital resources. Public funds for education must support public schools, which are open to all children and accountable to the community. This session will profile a program created by Wisconsin Public Education Network and being implemented by school districts throughout the state to place the cost of private school and independent charter vouchers on the tax bill, so taxpayers understand where their tax dollars are being spent. The goal of this session is to provide school districts, boards, and community leaders with the tools to implement this process in their community. A tool kit will be provided with a step-by-step process and explanation for district leaders to implement this plan.
