Strong Schools - Strong Communities
Dr. Jenny Seelig works for NORC at the University of Chicago, and does an extensive amount of Wisconsin rural school research. Dr. Seelig is always looking to support rural schools and advance education in Wisconsin. This research will guide efforts to remove barriers and expand opportunities for men to pursue teaching careers.
Please feel free to forward this email to men who may be interested in sharing their pathways and experiences in teaching. I was informed it will take 15-20 minutes to complete. In addition, partcipants will receive a $20 Visa gift card as an appreciation for your time.
Hello Everyone,
I would like to encourage men in the teaching profession to participate in a survey to understand the motivations and barriers to men on their pathways into and experiences in teaching. This survey is part of the Men in the Teaching Profession research study funded by the American Institute for Boys and Men and conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC).
This study examines the motivations, barriers, and supports that shape men’s experiences as they enter and persist in teaching careers, comparing traditional and non-traditional pathways, and identifying policy actions to expand and strengthen the male teacher pipeline in Wisconsin. Findings will inform leaders of states, districts, and educator preparation programs by contributing evidence-based recommendations for policies, recruitment strategies, and support programs that expand access to teaching careers for men and improve retention across traditional and alternative pathways.
Participation in this survey is voluntary and confidential, and your responses will not be shared with me or any other members of our organization. This study has been approved by NORC’s Institutional Review Board, which oversees the ethical conduct of all research studies.
If you have questions, please contact Dr. Jenny Seelig at NORC at the University of Chicago at seelig-jenny@norc.org
As an organization dedicated to advancing education in Wisconsin, we are proud to support this study and encourage you to complete the survey. This research will guide our efforts to remove barriers and expand opportunities for men to pursue teaching careers.
