  • SB-010 — Access to public high schools for military recruiters. Passed Assembly, 55-42, 10/19/25 ; Passed Senate, 18-14, 6/18/25

    • In general, federal law requires local educational agencies, such as school boards and charter schools, that receive federal assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to provide military recruiters the same access to secondary school students that the local educational agencies provide to postsecondary educational institutions or to prospective employers.

  • SB-011 — Allowing representatives of certain federally chartered youth membership organizations to provide information to pupils on public school property. Passed Assembly, 64-33, 10/19/25; Passed Senate, Voice Vote, 10/18/25

    • This bill requires, upon the request of certain federally chartered youth membership organizations, the principal of a public school, including an independent charter school, to schedule at least one date and time at the beginning of the school term for representatives of the youth membership organization to provide information about the organization to pupils during the school day on school property.

  • SB-210 — Changes to amount of, and criteria for designating recipients of, academic excellence higher education scholarships. Passed Assembly, Voice Vote, 10/19/25 ; Passed Senate, Voice Vote, 10/18/25

    • Under this bill, the school board or governing body of a high school with enrollment of at least one pupil but less than 500 pupils may designate one senior to receive the scholarship with no nomination process or designation from HEAB. The bill also clarifies that a senior eligible to receive the scholarship relief does not include a pupil enrolled in a home-based private educational program.

      • The bill was amended to allow home school seniors who receive a 33 on their ACT or a 1500 on the SAT to be designated for scholarships.

  • SB-424 — Teacher preparatory programs. Passed Assembly, Voice Vote, 10/19/25 ; Passed Senate, Voice Vote, 10/18/2

    • This bill authorizes the state superintendent to also approve a teacher preparatory program if the program requires students to complete student teaching that consists of full days for a full summer session at a cooperating elementary or secondary school.

  • AB-074 — Parental notification of alleged sexual misconduct by a school staff member. Passed, Voice Vote, 3/13/25 ; Passed Senate, Voice Vote, 11/18/25

    • This bill requires each school board, governing body of a private school, and operator of a charter school to notify a pupil’s parent or guardian if the school board, governing body, or operator receives a credible report alleging sexual misconduct by a school staff member and the pupil is identified as an alleged victim, target, or recipient of the misconduct.

  • AB-166 — Academic and career planning services provided to pupils and requiring the reporting of certain data on college student costs and outcomes. Passed Assembly, 56-39-2, 4/22/25 ; Passed Senate, Voice Vote, 11/18/25

    • This bill requires University of Wisconsin System institutions, technical colleges, and private nonprofit colleges in this state (higher education institutions) to report cost and student outcome data that are ultimately made available as part of the academic and career planning services provided to high school juniors and seniors.
