Audience: School Administration and School Board Officials

DESCRIPTION:

‍ ‍Environmental hazards (asbestos, lead, mold) can completely derail a voter- approved budget with unforeseen delays and change orders if discovered mid-construction. This presentation would focus on a proactive framework: integrating environmental consulting and testing before the referendum language or construction phasing is finalized. It highlights how prioritizing student/staff safety and liability management serves as a powerful community relations tool during the public campaign.

School District of Hudson: The School District of Hudson utilized the CESA 10 environmental team to proactively to map out testing and abatement scheduling alongside their construction phases. This saved them over $200,000 in abatement procurement alone, minimized liability via routine air monitoring, and gave the administration subject-matter experts to confidently address public community concerns regarding hazard exposure.
